• Introductory overview of OPC (history, concept, significance)


• Presentation of technological fundamentals(DCOM, XML, Web Services and .NET, etc.)


• Explanation of current specifications(OPC Data Access 2.0x, 3.0, OPC XML Data Access 1.0, etc.)


• Commissioning of OPC servers (PROFIBUS, CANopen, S7/MPI, ...)


• Working with clients


• Creation of Excel clients using Visual Basic for Application


• Security settings (DCOM) in OPC communication between remote computers


• OPC connection across firewalls


• Performance benchmarks and Strategies for performance optimization


• Archiving OPC data in databases


• Extensive exercises
